How the JL Memorial Educational Bursaries Work
The Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund offers a series of Memorial Education Bursaries established in honour of individuals who made meaningful contributions to the arts and creative communities.
Each bursary supports educational learning, skill development, or mentorship opportunities in the creative and performing arts. These bursaries are awarded through transparent, merit-based processes and are intended to increase access to arts education and learning.

JL Glen D. Ross Photography Education Bursary
Advances education in visual arts by supporting learning, skill development, and creative study in photography for emerging photographers.
The bursary provides restricted educational funding to support participation in structured learning and training activities related to photographic practice. Funds must be used solely for educational purposes and are not provided as unrestricted income, prizes, or personal compensation.
Eligible Educational Uses of Funds
Bursary funds may be used for costs directly related to education and learning, including:
Mentorships that provide instructional guidance and skill development.
Travel required to participate in training programs, workshops, or educational events with defined learning components.
Workshops, labs, or intensive training programs.
Purchase of educational or instructional materials.
Educational costs related to a defined learning activity or learning objective.
Equipment required for approved educational or training purposes.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
Artist bio.
Samples of work (up to four photographs) for assessment purposes.
A statement outlining the educational purpose of the proposed activity, anticipated learning outcomes, and a detailed budget.
A letter from a mentor confirming their instructional involvement, if applying for mentorship-related support.
Applications are assessed using transparent, merit-based criteria and are subject to organizational oversight to ensure alignment with the organization’s educational purposes.

JL Dianne Churchill Storytelling Education Bursary
Advances education in the literary arts by supporting learning, skill development, and creative study for emerging writers and poets.
The bursary provides restricted educational funding to support participation in structured learning and training activities related to writing and poetry. Funds must be used solely for educational purposes and are not provided as unrestricted income, prizes, or personal compensation.
Eligible Educational Uses of Funds
Bursary funds may be used for costs directly related to education and learning, including:
Mentorships that provide instructional guidance and skill development.
Travel required to participate in training programs, workshops, or educational events with defined learning components.
Workshops, labs, or intensive training programs.

Advances education in film and media arts by supporting learning and skill development in post-production for emerging filmmakers in New Brunswick.
The bursary provides restricted educational funding to support instructional and learning activities related to post production processes and knowledge as part of a structured learning process. Funds are not provided as unrestricted income, prizes, or personal compensation.
Eligible Educational Uses of Funds
Bursary funds may be used for costs directly related to education and learning, including:
Mentorships that provide instructional guidance and skill development.
Workshops, labs, or intensive training programs.
Artist residencies that include documented educational outcomes.
Educational memberships or learning-based program fees.
Educational materials related to film post-production.
