The Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund offers a series of Memorial Education Bursaries established in honour of individuals who made meaningful contributions to the arts and creative communities.
Each bursary supports educational learning, skill development, or mentorship opportunities in the creative and performing arts. These bursaries are awarded through transparent, merit-based processes and are intended to increase access to arts education and learning.

JL Glen D. Ross Photography Education Bursary
The Bursary advances education in the visual arts by supporting learning, skill development, and creative study in photography for emerging practitioners.
The bursary provides restricted educational funding to support participation in structured learning and training activities related to photographic practice. Funds must be used solely for educational purposes and are not provided as unrestricted income, prizes, or personal compensation.
Eligible Educational Uses of Funds
Bursary funds may be used for costs directly related to education and learning, including:
Educational photography projects undertaken as part of a defined learning objective
Mentorships that provide instructional guidance and skill development
Workshops, labs, or intensive training programs
Artist residencies that include documented educational outcomes
Educational memberships or learning-based program fees
Instructional and educational materials
Equipment purchases required for educational or training purposes
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
Artist biography
Samples of work (up to four photographs) for assessment purposes
A written statement outlining the educational purpose of the proposed activity, anticipated learning outcomes, and a detailed budget
A letter from a mentor confirming their instructional involvement, if applying for mentorship-related support
Applications are assessed using transparent, merit-based criteria and are subject to organizational oversight to ensure alignment with the organization’s charitable purposes.

JL Dianne Churchill Storytelling Education Bursary
The Bursary advances education in the literary arts by supporting learning, skill development, and creative study for writers and poets.
The bursary provides restricted educational funding to support participation in structured learning and training activities related to writing and poetry. Funds must be used solely for educational purposes and are not provided as unrestricted income, prizes, or personal compensation.
Eligible Educational Uses of Funds
Bursary funds may be used for costs directly related to education and learning, including:
Mentorships that provide instructional guidance and skill development
Workshops, labs, or intensive training programs
Artist residencies that include documented educational outcomes
Educational memberships or learning-based program fees
Educational materials related to writing and literary practice
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
Artist biography
One unpublished work (poetry, song, or short story) for assessment purposes
A written statement outlining the educational purpose of the proposed activity, anticipated learning outcomes, and a detailed budget
A letter from a mentor confirming their instructional involvement, if applying for mentorship-related support

JL Terry Gadsden Film Post-Production Education Bursary
The Bursary advances education in film and media arts by supporting learning and skill development in post-production and film distribution for emerging filmmakers in New Brunswick.
The bursary provides restricted educational funding to support instructional and learning activities related to post-production processes and distribution knowledge, including editing, sound, picture finishing, and audience-facing presentation as part of a structured learning process. Funds are not provided as unrestricted income, prizes, or personal compensation.
Eligible Educational Uses of Funds
Bursary funds may be used only for costs directly related to education and learning, including:
Post-production activities undertaken as part of a defined learning objective
Instructional collaboration with qualified post-production specialists
Educational preparation for distribution, including learning about festival and audience engagement processes
All supported activities must demonstrate clear educational outcomes and are subject to organizational oversight.

Applicants must submit:
A draft film cut (MOV or MP4) for assessment purposes
Filmmaker biography
A written description outlining the educational purpose of the proposed post-production or distribution activities and the specific learning objectives
Background information on the New Brunswick post-production specialist involved, including a letter confirming their instructional role
A learning-focused distribution plan outlining educational goals related to audience development or festival participation (if applying for distribution-related support)
Applications are assessed using transparent, merit-based criteria to ensure alignment with the organization’s charitable purposes.

JL Zwerg Music Education Bursary
(Singer-Songwriters & Composers)
This Bursary advances education in music by providing restricted educational funding to support learning, training, and skill development for singer-songwriters and music composers in New Brunswick.
Eligible Educational Uses of Funds
Bursary funds may be used only for costs directly related to education and learning, including:
Mentorships that provide instructional guidance
Workshops, labs, or intensive training programs
Learning-based artist residencies
Educational memberships or program fees
Educational materials and learning resources
Studio work undertaken as part of a defined learning objective
Project work and equipment purchases required for educational or training purposes
Funds are not provided as unrestricted income or prizes.

JL Errol Williams Filmmaker Education Bursary
Advances education in film and media arts by supporting learning, training, and skill development for emerging Black and racialized filmmakers in New Brunswick.
The bursary provides restricted educational support to assist participants in developing filmmaking knowledge, skills, and creative practice through structured learning activities. All support is provided for educational purposes only and is not offered as unrestricted income or prizes.

Educational support associated with this bursary may include:
A restricted educational bursary of $1,000 to support learning or training activities
In-kind access to equipment for educational use
Educational membership support to enable participation in learning-based programming
Instructional screenplay development and workshop support with a professional screenwriter

JL Jon Collicott Film Education Bursary
The JL Jon Collicott Film Education Bursary supports emerging filmmakers in New Brunswick who are members in good standing of the NB Film Co-op and who are pursuing learning and skill development in film.
This bursary is intended to assist with educational and professional learning activities related to filmmaking, such as training, mentorship, workshops, courses, or other structured learning opportunities that contribute to the recipient’s development as a filmmaker.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
Be an emerging filmmaker based in New Brunswick
Demonstrate a commitment to learning and skill development in film
Identify educational goals or challenges related to their filmmaking practice

The JL Jim Lavoie Film Education Bursary supports individuals, groups, or organizations in New Brunswick who have demonstrated a meaningful contribution to film and video through professional practice and who seek further learning, knowledge-sharing, or educational engagement in the field.
The bursary recognizes contributions that strengthen the film and media arts community and encourage continued learning, mentorship, or public education related to film and video practice.

Individuals, groups, or organizations based in New Brunswick
Demonstrated contribution to film and video in a professional or educational capacity

The bursary supports continued learning, professional development, or educational activities related to film practice, mentorship, or community-based knowledge sharing.

Open to women and gender-diverse individuals working in film in New Brunswick
Nominees should demonstrate a sustained commitment to mentorship, education, or community engagement within the film sector

The Isaac Memorial Creative Youth Education Bursary supports children and youth between the ages of 8 and 17 who are engaged in learning or skill development in any creative discipline.
This bursary is intended to encourage creative learning, exploration, and educational growth among young people.
The bursary is awarded annually by the Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund.
