  • JL Community Education & Events Bursary

    The JL Community Education & Events Bursary advances public education and appreciation of the arts by supporting education-focused activities delivered through small-scale community events in New Brunswick that include a clear and intentional learning component. Four $500 Bursaries are given out annually.

    Supported activities must be open to the public and designed to increase public understanding of artistic practices, creative processes, or cultural expression through learning-based activities such as workshops, artist talks, demonstrations, facilitated discussions, or educational presentations.

    Funding provided through this bursary is restricted to approved educational components of proposed activities and may not be used for general event operations or non-educational purposes.

    Eligible Activities

    Community arts festivals that include structured educational programming

    Creative community events with a documented public learning or educational objective

    Application Requirements

    Applicants must submit:

    Organizer biography

    Event description outlining educational objectives and public benefit

    Total event budget identifying educational cost components

    List of partner organizations, if applicable

    All applications are assessed using transparent, merit-based criteria, with priority given to proposals that demonstrate strong educational outcomes, public accessibility, and alignment with the bursary’s educational purpose.

  • JL Micro Arts Education Residency Program

    The JL Micro Arts Education Residency Program advances education in the arts by supporting short-term, structured learning residencies for emerging creative practitioners in New Brunswick. Four $500 Bursaries are given out annually.

    Residencies are offered for a defined period up to four months and are designed to provide participants with supervised learning opportunities that build artistic knowledge, skills, and understanding through research, practice, mentorship, and public educational engagement.

    Each residency must include clear educational objectives and at least one publicly accessible educational activity, such as an artist talk, workshop, presentation, or demonstration, to ensure public benefit.

    Application Requirements

    Applicants must submit:

    A residency plan outlining educational goals and learning outcomes

    Name of residency participant

    Proposed schedule

    Budget detailing the educational use of funds

    Samples of work (up to two) for assessment purposes

    All residencies are selected through a transparent, merit-based process and are subject to organizational oversight to ensure alignment with the organization’s charitable purposes.
