Background: Errol Williams was a pioneer and award-winning international filmmaker who was introduced to filmmaking at the NB Film Co-op in the late 1980s. He produced dramas and documentaries. After his untimely death in 2007, a special award was set up in his honour by his friends, past NB Film Co-op President Chris Campbell, and long-time Film Co-op ED Tony Merzetti in partnership with the NB Film Co-op.
Award Breakdown:
$400 cash from Errol Williams Fund.
$300 cash from the NB Film Co-op.
$500 cash from the Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund (for film mentor).
$800 in-kind (equipment).
$200 in-kind (10 professional development workshops).
Eligibility
Creation of short dramas, video poems or documentaries 10 minutes or less.
Eligible applicants: New Brunswick residents who are black and people of colour.
